Kelly, the way this old class artifact resurfaced feels inseparable from the woman you were when you made it: carrying a miscarriage, trying to hold a family together, and still creating something meant to affirm people who had been taught to feel less beautiful. The image of Francine Cardman taking your hand gives the memory a human center, a moment of care that remained legible thirteen years later. Seeing your younger self now with compassion for what she was carrying gives the recovered work another layer of witness. Grateful for the way you allowed the artifact, the loss, the kindness, and the woman you were then to return together.
You’ve been through a very difficult experience. But there are people out there who are willing to lend a helping hand. I think that’s a small but happy thing, and I’m grateful that you shared your story with us.✨
Than God that Guardian Angel was there to take your hand when you needed support the most. How deeply disturbing that no in your immediate circle was there to hold you up - or just hold you. I understand that feeling. Its debilitating and stays sitting in the pits of your heart and your head. Thank you for sharing such a deeply personal moment in your life journey dear friend. There are some wounds that never heal. With my love, support and understanding - your Wings. 🪶💚💚
thank you so much…love you my friend…it was just the beginning of a whole series of things…..that are a cycle that needs to expire …. your love and support mean so much
thank you….. as i walk through a complicated situation, i find myself going back to that time.. what is beautiful is that I can see me, just before a really difficult time set in…and i can see that the core me has remained ..is alive in me…i am not broken….i am still me. and that feels affirming.
To see oneself with clarity is a rare and important gift. It will stand you in good stead for whatever the future holds. To know yourself and to know God, these matters are the wellspring of life 💜.
I'm still sitting with your article and feel led to share Psalm 23. Especially verse 6 surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life. The Greek word for follow is radaph which means ‘passionately pursue’ 💜.
There is something deeply human about looking back at who we were without judging them, finally knowing what that person was trying to live through. Sometimes compassion reaches us across time.

I think she was beautiful. And what happened to her, was that she tried to live through that time preserving lives that never cared for her at all.
